THE BEE
Bee C.W. (stage name The Bee, @thebee.theartist) is a young artist born and raised in Harlem. A poet, performer, and tattoo designer, they create pieces exploring identity and celebrating the intersections of the queer, mixed-race, and disabled communities, among others. They are a four-for-four-time champion and now host of the Nuyorican Poets Cafe slam competitions, fifth ranked at the 2023 Womxn Poet of the World Poetry Slam, a member of the 2023 Urban Word NYC Slam Team, a featured spoken word artist and teacher throughout New York City and with Urban Word and Button Poetry, and a student of Columbia University.

CHINATOWN BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT (BID)
One of the main objectives of the Chinatown BID is to help keep the neighborhoods – composed of Chinatown, Little Italy, Lower East Side, and parts of the Bowery, Tribeca, and SoHo – free from trash and graffiti as much as possible. Along with our team of ambassadors, the BID also works with hundreds of volunteers to keep these neighborhoods clean. The BID strives to help neighborhood businesses and to keep people informed about all the great things to see and do in Chinatown. The BID also advocates for better infrastructure, resulting in things such as the installation of WalkNYC, a wayfinding system to help guide people between neighborhoods.

CaringKind is New York City’s leading expert on Alzheimer’s and dementia caregiving. With over 40 years of experience, we work directly with our community partners to develop the information, tools and training to support individuals and families affected by dementia.
We offer a Helpline (646) 744-2900 staffed with Dementia Specialists; individual and family consultations; a vast network of support groups; education programs; early stage services and a wanderer’s safety program. We believe in the power of caregiving and seek a world where everyone dealing with dementia has the support they need, when they need it.
The mission of CaringKind is to create, deliver, and promote comprehensive and compassionate care and support services for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research. We achieve our mission by providing programs and services for individuals with dementia, their family and professional caregivers; increasing public awareness; collaborating with research centers; and informing public policy through advocacy.
FELIPE RANGEL
During my tenure with the New York City Board of Education where I worked as a Bilingual teacher, I experienced the need for Latino students to have enriching opportunities that connected them to their culture. I decided to create an awareness that would lift their self-esteem and highly motivate them to read and write about their cultural history. I taught my students that we learn about ourselves through the knowledge of social studies. As their interest in culture increased, they learned more about folk art, masks, music, and dance traditions that reflect their Caribbean culture. The experience with my students inspired me to develop my own artistic form. I became interested in creating the traditional Puerto Rican mask from Ponce Puerto Rico and researched a variety of paper Mache techniques. I further researched the historical meaning of the Ponce mask and its cultural significance to Puerto Rico. In researching my own culture, I also made cross connections to other interpretations of the universally celebrated carnival around the world. My passion for expressing culture through art, also lead me to joining the Puerto Rican Brotherhood of Folk Artist in New York City and The P.R.I.D.A. organization(Puerto Rican Institute For The Development of the Arts). I served as President for six years in the Brotherhood and supported the cultural knowledge of Puerto Rico by integrating artists and conducting workshops. We partnered with several institutions such as. La Casa de la Herencia Puertorriquena, The Henry Street Settlement and The Museo del Barrio, Hostos Community College, DC 37 to mention a few. As a current treasurer of P.R.I.D.A , I continue supporting the group by creating cultural workshops for the community in general and help financing the projected goals for the group. Today much of my artistic work continues to be promoted at museums, galleries and craft shows throughout the tri-state area. I took my educational commitment in producing calabash gourd art representing the many variations of Taino, African and Spanish influences that defines the Puerto Rican culture. Many of the local and national newspapers have published articles based on my work. I have been contracted by several agencies to conduct hands on mask making workshops for children and families. In addition, one of my former mask making students is now a master mask maker of La “Alianza Dominicana” in Washington Heights. Currently, I am a City College Field Supervisor for student teachers who are encouraging students to make academic decisions based on the same cultural needs for Latino students in their classrooms. I also support them by recommending literature and modeling techniques as well as academic video documentaries that will help students identify with their cultural backgrounds and lift their cultural self-esteem. Student teachers are taught that as the student’s cultural awareness increases, their academic growth thrives as they engage in the academic disciplines. As I continue through my artistic career, I will press forward with my philosophy to bring cultural awareness to our youth and the community.

Durante mis actividades en la Junta de Educación de la Ciudad de Nueva York, donde trabajé como maestro bilingüe, experimenté la necesidad de que los estudiantes latinos tuvieran oportunidades enriquecedoras que los conectaran con su cultura. Decidí crear y promover una concientización para elevar su autoestima y motivarlos a leer y escribir sobre su historia cultural. Enseñé a mis alumnos que aprendemos sobre nosotros mismos a través del conocimiento de los estudios sociales. A medida que aumentaba su interés por la cultura, aprendieron más sobre el arte popular, las máscaras, la música y las danzas tradicionales que reflejan su cultura caribeña. La experiencia con mis alumnos me inspiró a desarrollar mi propia forma artística. Me interesé en crear máscaras puertorriqueñas tradicionales de Ponce e investigué una variedad de técnicas de papel maché. Como actual tesorera de P.R.I.D.A, sigo apoyando al grupo creando talleres culturales para la comunidad en general y ayudando a financiar las metas proyectadas para el grupo. Actualmente, gran parte de mi trabajo artístico continúa siendo promocionado en museos, galerías y exposiciones artesanales en el área tri-estatal. Tomé mi compromiso educativo en la producción de arte con calabazas que representa muchas variaciones de las influencias taínas, africanas y españolas que definen la cultura puertorriqueña. Muchos de los periódicos locales y nacionales han publicado artículos sobre mi trabajo. He sido contratado por varias agencias para impartir talleres prácticos de fabricación de máscaras para niños y familias. Además, uno de mis antiguos alumnos de fabricación de máscaras ahora es un maestro fabricante de máscaras de La “Alianza Dominicana” en Washington Heights. FRANK LONDON'S KLEZMER BRASS ALLSTARS
In the early nineteenth century, before the transformation of Israel, the deterioration of old-world Jewish traditions and the migration to new lands in search of new beginnings, there was a notorious band known as "Di Shikere Kapelye" (The Inebriated Orchestra, or the Band of Drunks). This band gave birth to the soul of Klezmer that we enjoy to this day from extraordinary brass musicians like those brought together by Frank London.

Grand Tea & Imports（好茶水 佛運玄）was established in 2006 after our founder, Mr. Liu, returned to China for the first time in 15 years. After many years away from home, he was able to reconnect with old friends like it was yesterday over many cups of tea. The trip inspired him to open a tea store that would allow Chinatown residents and visitors to relish in the flavor of his hometown and connect in appreciation of Chinese traditions, culture, and fine teas. Mr. Liu’s passion for importing small-batch teas and organizing tea culture events quickly earned him the reputation of “Teafucius” or “茶夫子”. Since our shop’s opening, his teas have been featured in dozens of local businesses and shared at neighborhood street fairs and cultural gatherings at the United Nations and the Asia Society. In 2011, Mr. Liu merged operations with Manpolo Trading (美佛轩), a Buddhism, Fengshui, and Folk Religion specialty store operating in Chinatown since 1990. Mr. Liu was able to revitalize the struggling business and expand its focus to providing distinctive, high-quality spiritual goods that would allow Chinese families to celebrate life’s important moments, such as: Lunar New Year festivities, wedding ceremonies, new business openings, and ancestral worship. Today, Grand Tea & Imports is a retail and cultural anchor in the Chinatown community. We supply authentic Chinese teas and goods to a broad range of customers including immigrant households across the East Coast, Chinatown visitors, and recognized businesses.

Grand Tea & Imports（好茶水 佛運玄）se estableció en 2006 después de que nuestro fundador, el Sr. Liu, regresara a China por primera vez en 15 años. Después de muchos años fuera de casa, pudo volver a conectarse con viejos amigos como si fuera ayer a través de muchas tazas de té. JAKE SHULMAN-MENT
Born in New York City, violinist Jake Shulman-Ment is “considered one of the finest klezmer fiddlers on the planet” (Jon Kalish, NPR). He tours and records internationally as a soloist and with Midwood, Daniel Kahn, Frank London, Di Naye Kapelye, Joey Weisenberg, and Duncan Sheik. He was featured in Csaba Bereczki's full-length documentary film Soul Exodus, and performed on screen in HBO's Succession and Martin Scorcese's The Irishman. A widely sought-out teacher of the klezmer fiddle tradition, Jake has been a faculty member of KlezKamp, KlezKanada, Klezmer Paris, the Krakow Jewish Culture Festival, Yiddish Summer Weimar, Fiddle Tunes, Yiddish New York, and other festivals throughout the globe. He collected, studied, performed, and documented traditional music in Romania as a Fulbright scholar, and has lived and traveled in Hungary and Greece, learning traditional violin styles. In 2018 he received the prestigious NYSCA/NYFA Fellowship in Folk/Traditional Arts. Jake's debut solo album, A Redele (A Wheel) (Oriente Musik, 2012) was nominated for the German Record Critics' Award. His new group, Midwood, released its first album, Out of the Narrows, (Chant Records) in May 2018.

KEHILA KEDOSHA JANINA
Kehila Kedosha Janina (the Holy Community of Janina) is the only Romaniote synagogue in the Western Hemisphere. Romaniote Jews are a unique community of Greek-speaking Jews whose history in Greece dates back over 2,300 years to the time of Alexander the Great. The Romaniotes are historically distinct from the Sephardim, who settled in Greece after the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492. KKJ was first organized in 1906 by Greek-speaking Romaniote Jews from the city of Ioannina in northwestern Greece. Needing a place of their own where they could preserve their unique traditions, customs, liturgy, and language, property was purchased at 280 Broome Street, and the congregation opened its doors to worship at its current location in 1927. In 1997, a Museum was created in the synagogue, which today hosts many educational events including lectures, book signings, movie screenings, and concerts. KKJ is a NYC designated landmark and continues to hold services every Saturday morning as well as for all Jewish holidays.

Kehila Kedosha Janina (la Sagrada Comunidad de Janina) es la única sinagoga romaniote en el hemisferio occidental. Los judíos romaniotes son una comunidad única de judíos de habla griega cuya historia en Grecia se remonta a más de 2,300 años, a la época de Alejandro Magno. Históricamente, los romaniotes son distintos de los sefardíes, que se establecieron en Grecia después de la expulsión de los judíos de España en 1492. La KKJ fue organizada por primera vez en 1906 por judíos romaniotes de habla griega de la ciudad de Loannina, en el noroeste de Grecia. Leana Jelen Tapnack is a soferet, a Hebrew scribe who does writes and restores ritual objects such as Torah scrolls, tefillin, and ketubot for weddings using the same materials as ancient scribes: animal parchment, hand cut feather quills, and gall-nut ink. Leana teaches classes and workshops for all ages, and lives on the Upper West Side with her wife, toddler, and dog.

Ling Tang is a New York City-based teaching artist who offers Chinese dance and cultural workshops. She is a 2021 New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow in Folk/Traditional Arts. Ling inherited the paper-cutting tradition from her mother, Hongyi He, who has been awarded the title of “Chinese Folk Artist” by the UNESCO.

LULADA CLUB is an all-women salsa band: a collective of vibrant musicians, each brilliant and accomplished in her own right. Vocalist and bandleader Andrea Chavarro founded Lulada Club in 2022 with a mission to close the gender gap in female representation in the NYC live music scene. Nicco Diaz is a Queer, Black Nuyorican poet, educator, and cultural entrepreneur reppin’ the Bronx and East Harlem. Nicco has performed all over NYC and has been published in Harvard’s Latinx literary journal, PALABRITAS and Out Loud LGBTQ Literary Art Anthology. He also curates/hosts two signature events, “Barrio BX’s Book Club” and “Poetry & Potions Open Mic”. He is Chief of Staff to the Executive Director of the legendary Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Caridad De La Luz AKA LA BRUJA. He received a B.A. cum laude in English and Latino Studies from Cornell University in 2010 as a first-gen student. When he's not doing the work, you can often find him eating a pastellio (or empanada depending on who's reading).

Both Paul Mak (麥暢波) & Camille (燕無雙), have participated in various Cantonese Opera performances for more than 16 years at Chinatown and other different places in New York, Boston, New Jersey……etc. By invitations, they also participated in the “New Year”, “Asian Traditional Month” and some other events to promote Cantonese Opera in the communities such as primary schools to college levels activities ; libraries and Art Fair to let the mainstream American society have more chances to know and appreciate the Cantonese Opera Art. In 2023, Camille’s performances mainly focus on the communities’ services during the Chinese Festivals and Multicultural Festivals included: the 17th Annual Pre-Lunar Asian Fun Fun Festival,The Charm of Asia May Extravaganza 2013 at Flushing and the United Nations Women’s Guild Secretariat Group Multicultural Festival at the United Nations.

Raffi Boden is a NY-based cellist, composer and educator known for his lush tone, groovy bass lines and versatility in a variety of genres. Equally at home in both classical and klezmer, Raffi has performed internationally in Europe and South America, locally in Carnegie Hall, and with members of the NY Philharmonic. Raffi is a member of the klezmer band Mamaliga, with whom he’s performed and been a guest artist at Yiddish New York, Yiddish Summer Weimar and KlezKanada. Their debut album of original klezmer compositions, Dos Gildn Bletl, was released in 2021 and hailed as “virtuosic and vibrant.” Raffi was recently in the Juilliard production of “Indecent”, for which he worked with composer and music director Lisa Gutkin to compose a cello part for the band. He is also a member of six-piece chamber-jazz ensemble Simone Baron & Arco Belo. Raffi holds degrees from the Juilliard School (MM) and Oberlin College & Conservatory (BM, BA).

Sarah Myerson is an ordained cantor, actively working to connect egalitarian Jewish religious with secular/cultural Yiddish communities. Her love of klezmer music and background in Balkan folk dance drew her to study Yiddish dance. Since 2008, Sarah has led Yiddish social dancing at weddings, concerts, and other events. She has taught Yiddish dance workshops at the New York Klezmer Series (USA), Yiddish New York (USA), Seattle Yiddish Fest (USA), KlezNorth (UK), Shtetl Berlin (Germany), Shtetl Neukölln (Germany), Yiddish Summer Weimar (Germany), Ashkenaz (Canada), Klezkanada (Canada), the Illawarra Folk Festival (Australia), and the National Folk Festival (Australia). Sarah also coaches private Yiddish dance students.

YAJUN SUI CHINESE SUGAR PAINTING
Yajun Sui is a Sugar Painting artist, a type of traditional Chinese folk art using hot, liquid sugar to create two and three dimensional designs on a marble or metal surface. Yajun started showcasing her art to the public in New York in 2016. In the past six years, she has participated in countless multicultural community festivals and religious and cultural celebrations. She has also worked with students during public school multicultural days in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Maryland. Yajun prides herself in being able to introduce traditional Chinese artistic elements to folks from different cultures and nationalities.

Yajun Sui es un artista de la pintura en azúcar, un tipo de arte popular tradicional chino que utiliza azúcar líquida caliente para crear diseños bidimensionales y tridimensionales en una superficie de mármol o metal. Yajun comenzó a mostrar su arte al público en Nueva York en 2016. En los últimos seis años, ha participado en innumerables festivales comunitarios multiculturales y celebraciones religiosas y culturales. También ha trabajado con estudiantes durante los días multiculturales en escuelas públicas en Nueva York, Nueva Jersey, Connecticut y Maryland.
