My New York
Recommended for Grades K-2 (In-Person & Virtual)
New York City was not always a big metropolis filled with skyscrapers and subways. Like all cities and communities, it needed time to grow. In the My New York program, students will be introduced to rural, suburban, and urban communities and how they change over time.
This is a two-part program. The first portion includes a read-aloud of Virginia Lee Burton’s The Little House and an art project in your school classroom. Part-two will take place on another date and consists of a trip to the Museum at Eldridge Street to see how our building’s story is just like that of the little house in the book.
New Lives in a New Land
Recommended for Grades 3-12 (In-Person & Virtual)
In our signature program, New Lives in a New Land, students will learn about the history of immigration at the turn of the 20th century in relation to our historic Eldridge Street Synagogue.
From our founding in 1887 through our golden age, decline, and restoration, students will uncover the unique ways our building preserves the story of the Jewish immigrant community who once lived and worshiped on the Lower East Side.

Following in Their Footsteps: A Lower East Side Walking Tour

A century ago, the Lower East Side saw unparalleled growth as waves of immigrants settled, prayed, played, worked, shopped, and attended school in this neighborhood as they built their new lives. Today, there are signs of the past hidden within the modern streets. Join us as we walk in the footsteps of these immigrants and learn about their immigrant history.
We also offer a custom combination tour which consists of our building and neighborhood walking tour. This package lasts two hours in duration. Ask about this tour in your submission form and we can discuss fees and more.
